Abstract:
Due to an unprecedented economicgrowth, fuelled by a pro-growth policy,
China’s cities are mushrooming.
In the coming years, the mass migration
from rural to urban areas will continue.
The demand for energy and resources will
continue to rise.
China’s cities will increasingly contribute
to global warming and the depletion of
the environment.
The crucial question is: Can urban development
in China become sustainable?
